How do you change the file size of a jpg image in adobe photoshop 7?
Hi Mate,

some answers here are overly complicated.

the simplest thing to do is open the file, then go to save as, and when you save as a jpg there will be an option to select image quality via a sliding scale (lowest - maximum). this will affect the file size dramatically but to be honest, the actual quality doesnt change too much.

If that doesnt reduce the file size dramatically, you could resize the original image.

Open up your image, then press control + T then, while holding shift, take a corner, and resize it that way.
Reduce the quality when saving the jpg. Also, you can reduce the image dimensions by clicking image%26gt;image size...
When you come to save it, choose %26quot;Save for Web%26quot; and you will be given a number of possible image qualities with their respective file size.
go to %26quot;image%26quot; then

%26quot;image size%26quot;

and set the image size to the required settings.

For emailing and publishing a good image size,

would be a width of not bigger than 500 pixels, make

sure %26quot;constrain to proportions%26quot; is selected.

You can also downsize file size by selecting a higher compression ratio when saving your jpg file.
